It’s hard to get inspired with clothes these days with Spring only coming at us in short teasers, but I’m trying! I refuse to buy anything new until the weather turns and i can start getting some spring/summer items. I’m still doing prenatal yoga three times a week, swimming once a week, and in the last legs of getting the house ‘ready’. I’m dying to have my weekends back – as in no painting, no furniture assembly, no reason for a 7:30am alarm on a Saturday morning! I want some quality time with my husband. We live in the same house, sleep in the same bed, spend all weekend together working on the house – and I miss him! It’s just not the same as having ‘us time’. y’know? And the amount of weekends we have left where it’s just the two of us are decreasing rapidly, so I really want to make the most of it.
Whoa tangent, back on track; Yoga/Swimming/house etc = busy me who needs outfits that can take me through all the day time errands that need doing and are still comfortable. The bump is more of a mountain these days (11ish weeks left to go) and only getting bigger, this makes for some very uncomfortable waistbands in some of my regular go-to items. This week i rediscovered my harem pants – i know they are a hit or miss style with most folks but for this on-the-go-pregnant-yogi they were a key item this week. These exact ones were from the lululemon lab, so they were made in luxtreme which is a very soft flowy fabric and felt so comfortable around the bump.
So this was me on Tuesday evening, heading off to Hypnobirthing with the Mister. I added one of my basic white maternity tshirts (from Thyme Maternity – great basics!), a scarf from lululemon (doubles as a shawl or a blanket in savasana), my husband’s sweatshirt and my good ‘ol denim jacket (levi’s). Comfort to the max.
The next morning, for yoga – same pants but i added one of those extra long cool racerbacks I’ve told you about before.
I had to give you a profile shot so you can see the bump is growing! (this is me at 28.5 weeks). So find your one piece that gives you your mojo and work it as many ways as possible, that’s my advice this week.
We welcomed in Spring today with Toronto Yoga Mamas (even though it felt like anything but Spring outside!). These camo Wunder Unders are still one of my all time faves and they spark a conversation every time I wear them.
This was one of those days where I had a million things to do and the day started off with prenatal yoga (at Toronto Yoga Mamas) and continued from there. So at the base of it all is my tried, tested, and true lululemon items. I found that early in my second trimester my wunder unders were no longer comfortable around my waist and ended up picking up the Skinny Will Pant. I love love love how as I’ve grown the high waist (which I folded under my belly early in the third trimester) now supports my lower belly as I’ve increased in size. I wear the waistband all the way up and have cut out the drawstring (it just adds a strange bulge which no pregnant belly benefits from). And my other go-to is just a basic tank, i thrive on the Cool Racerback (sidenote: I can’t see the Long version of these online but in stores they are often available in black and white in a longer version, these are my preferred length right now because you get a little extra bum coverage).
Layering is the key these days, it’s still cold here and my internal temp is all over the map. So today I tossed a chunky knit sweater from Zadig & Voltaire over top, and my go-to boots are always from Fiorentini & Baker. (They make everything better).
I promise the quality of pics will improve! I don’t have a full length mirror and rely on the hubs for the full length shots – we’re working on it…
I just want to point out again that I have on Zero ‘maternity’ clothing, and I’m just about 24 weeks along here. This took me from yoga to coffee, through errands, home for a nap :), and then dinner with my husband in a trendy restaurant.
